The fire occurred at a briquette factory, with the source or cause traced to the grilling process,” said M Ade Nugraha, Head of Fire Suppression and Rescue at Bogor City Fire and Rescue Department, on Tuesday (26 May 2026). The incident took place around 5am. The factory owner’s losses are estimated at hundreds of millions of rupiah. “Total losses amount to approximately Rp500 million,” he explained. According to the report, the fire began due to excessively high temperatures during the grilling process, causing the briquettes to dry out and ignite. “The initial cause of the fire, according to the report, is suspected to be excessively high grilling temperatures, which dried the briquettes and caused them to catch fire,” he added. Ade stated there were no casualties. The fire was extinguished after approximately four hours. “The situation is now under control, with firefighting lasting one hour 30 minutes and cooling taking two hours 41 minutes,” he concluded.
