Bogor City has received the ‘Towards Clean City’ award from the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH).

The award for waste management performance was presented by the Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, in Jakarta on Wednesday (February 25).

Bogor Mayor Dedie Rachim, who received the award, stated that Bogor is in the ‘Towards Clean City’ category, along with 12 other cities and 22 regencies across Indonesia.

The change in category for Clean or Dirty Cities in 2026 is being prepared as part of the preparations for a similar assessment in the following year.

“However, this assessment is almost equivalent to the Adipura Award that we have known before. Only Bogor City, along with 12 other cities, received the award out of 98 cities in Indonesia,” Dedie said in a press release.

Prior to the award ceremony, the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH) held a National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) on Waste Management 2026.

This Rakornas aims to encourage the acceleration of comprehensive waste management solutions from upstream to downstream.

The meeting adopted the theme ‘Collaboration for a Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful Indonesia (ASRI)’.

This activity is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directives on handling the emergency waste situation in Indonesia, as well as commemorating National Waste Awareness Day 2026.

The Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, stated that currently, only 34 percent of landfills in Indonesia have stopped using open dumping practices.

Meanwhile, 66 percent of other landfills still need to transform towards more environmentally friendly management systems, namely controlled landfills and even sanitary landfills.

He explained that the transformation towards controlled landfills and sanitary landfills is considered a strategic step in realizing environmentally sound waste management.

In addition to reducing soil, water, and air pollution, this system also allows for safer and more measurable control of leachate and methane gas. (H-2)

This target of 300 tons is very important because it is the minimum limit to prevent Bandung City from facing the risk of a waste emergency.
