Air quality in Bogor, West Java, has improved after being affected by volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. Consequently, student learning across all schools in Bogor will proceed normally with face-to-face classes tomorrow.

“The air quality condition is relatively better. Therefore, with indicators showing an improvement in quality, we have decided that as of 9 September 2026, face-to-face learning will be reinstated in the Bogor City area,” said the Mayor of Bogor, Dedie A Rachim, on Tuesday (7/9/2026).

He noted that this decision was made following a meeting with the Bogor City Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Bogor City SPPG Coordinator, and various Regional Government Organisation (OPD) members.

“I also urge all school principals and staff to prepare as thoroughly as possible to ensure that children enter school in a clean environment, free from dust, while also continuing to reduce outdoor activities,” he explained.

“Furthermore, children are required to wear masks, wear closed clothing, and ensure that all health protocols are met. That is all I can convey,” he added.

Meanwhile, in the Bogor Regency, learning will also proceed normally, given that the air quality has begun to improve.

“It is already normal,” said the Head of the Bogor Regency Education Office, Rusliandy.

Previously, the Bogor City Government implemented a distance learning (PJJ) policy to anticipate the impact of volcanic ash from the Mount Anak Krakatau eruption on students. Distance learning was enforced for two days for educational units ranging from kindergarten, primary, to junior high school levels.

“On Monday (7/9), teaching and learning activities for kindergarten, primary, and junior high school levels were temporarily shifted to home via the distance learning scheme. The safety and health of our children are our utmost priority,” said the Mayor of Bogor, Dedie A Rachim, on Sunday (6/9).
