Boeing wins $486m contract
SEATTLE, Washington (AFP): U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co. on Wednesday said it had won a contract worth US$486 million to supply 10 of its 737 aircraft to Jet Airways of India.
"This is strategically an important sale in India because of the significant growth we forecast for the domestic Indian market," said Seddik Belyamani, a vice president at Boeing Commercial Airplane Group.
The order is for six of Boeing's "next generation" 737-800 and four 737-400 aircraft.
The latter model is due for delivery in 1997. The 737-800 deliveries are set to begin in 1998 and to continue through 2000, Boeing said in a statement.
