Boeing to face negligence suit
SINGAPORE (AP): The family of an American who died when a Singapore plane crashed last year in Indonesia has filed a US$25 million negligence suit against the aircraft manufacturer Boeing, a newspaper reported yesterday.
The suit was filed in New York federal court by law firm Kreindler and Kreindler on behalf of the family of Suzan Picariello, one of 104 people who died when a Silk Air Boeing 737-300 plane crashed last Dec. 19, according to The Business Times.
Picariello was American Express senior vice president for Southeast and South Asia, based in Singapore.
The cause of the accident, which killed all passengers and crew, has remained a mystery. Investigations were hampered because the flight data and cockpit voice recorders stopped functioning minutes before the plane dropped out of the sky.
