Jakarta — The body of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno, will be buried at Kalibata Heroes’ Cemetery (TMP) in South Jakarta, positioned near the graves of several national figures, including Kristiani Herrawati (Ani Yudhoyono) and Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie.

Based on observations at the location, the grave has been prepared alongside the burial plot of Pramono Edhie Wibowo and Ani Yudhoyono. The area is also in close proximity to the tombs of Indonesia’s third President BJ Habibie and his wife, Hasri Ainun Besari.

As the funeral ceremony approached, grave excavation work continued. Tents for mourners had been erected around the location. Several TNI military officers carrying ceremonial swords were prepared to participate in the final tribute ceremony for the deceased.

The atmosphere around the cemetery appeared orderly and well-arranged. Officials were preparing the funeral proceedings, whilst mourners began arriving to pay their final respects.

Try Sutrisno passed away at the age of 90 at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto military hospital in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026, at 06:58 WIB. His son, Taufik Dwi Cahyono, stated that his father had no significant medical history. His health declined due to age-related factors.

According to Taufik, prior to his death, Try had been receiving treatment at RSPAD since 16 February 2026 following a decline in appetite. He explained: “He was admitted from 16 February. His appetite suddenly declined, he was brought here, his condition fluctuated, he was given medication and food.”

According to Taufik, the medical team from RSPAD, working with the presidential medical team, provided maximum medical care throughout his hospitalisation.
