Jakarta — The body of Try Sutrisno, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, will be given final prayers at the Grand Sunda Kelapa Mosque in central Jakarta before being buried at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026.

According to Kompas.com observations, Sutrisno’s body, placed in a casket draped with the national red and white flag, arrived at Sunda Kelapa Mosque at 11:20 WIB. The casket was carried by multiple uniformed officers who carefully walked through the mosque’s corridors before entering the prayer area. One of the leading officers carried a photograph of Try Sutrisno, while soldiers placed the casket in the centre of the prayer hall, which was draped with the national flag. Former Vice President Ma’ruf Amin was observed to be present at the ceremony.

Try Sutrisno passed away on Monday morning at RSPAD Gatot Subroto Military Hospital. His body was brought to a funeral home in the Menteng district of Jakarta for viewing. The family stated that Sutrisno had no specific underlying medical condition that caused his death. His son, Taufik Dwi Cahyono, attributed his father’s declining health to advanced age, as he had reached 90 years old.

Taufik explained that before his death, Try had been hospitalised at RSPAD since 16 February 2026 after experiencing a loss of appetite. “He was admitted from 16 February. His appetite simply declined suddenly, he was brought here, went up and down (in condition), was given medicine and food,” Taufik recounted. He noted that the medical team at RSPAD and the Presidential office had provided the best possible treatment for his father.
