Body of Former Defence Minister Juwono Sudarsono Arrives at Kalibata Heroes' Cemetery

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The body of former Indonesian Minister of Defence Juwono Sudarsono arrived at Taman Makam Pahlawan (TMP) Kalibata in South Jakarta on Sunday (29/3/2026). According to observations by Kompas.com, the casket draped in the Red and White flag was slowly pushed using a hearse cart, moving along the path towards the burial area. Upon reaching the site, the sounds of music from the marching band echoed, accompanying the procession and creating a poignant yet reverent atmosphere. Behind the casket, a line of state officials and military personnel walked in orderly fashion. As it approached the grave, the casket was slowly lowered from the cart. Several soldiers then lifted it with great care towards its final resting place. Juwono passed away at Pondok Indah Hospital in South Jakarta around 1.45pm WIB on Saturday (28/3/2026). The body was laid in state at 9.00am WIB on Sunday (29/3/2026) at Gedung Urip Sumoharjo, Ministry of Defence RI, Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta. It was subsequently buried at TMP Kalibata in South Jakarta.
