Body Language Cues That Indicate Genuine Love in a Relationship
KOMPAS.com - Affection in a relationship isn’t always expressed through sweet words or expensive gifts. In many cases, a couple’s body language is the most honest indicator of their love and emotional attachment. Body language experts believe that non-verbal communication is a crucial foundation for building emotional intimacy. Often unconsciously, couples who love each other frequently display consistent and natural signals of affection through their bodies. “Body language is the emotional current that flows within a relationship,” said Blanca Cobb, a body language expert and educator, as quoted by HuffPost on Thursday (26/2/2026). So, what kind of body language indicates that a partner truly loves you? In a healthy relationship, touch often occurs spontaneously and meaningfully. Couples who love each other often show closeness through small touches, such as placing a hand on the lower back, holding hands while walking, or gently stroking hair. According to Patti Wood, a body language expert with over 30 years of experience, these touches create a sense of security and emotional connection. “There’s a small dance in the touch that usually occurs in loving couples,” said Wood. This touch is not only a form of affection but also a signal that the partner feels comfortable, relaxed, and doesn’t need to put up ‘defenses’ when with their loved one. Conversely, their bodies are oriented towards each other, and even their feet often face their partner when talking. Wood explained that an open body posture indicates a willingness to receive, listen, and connect emotionally.
