Body in Black Jacket Found Floating off Kuta Beach Sparks Search

Video footage showing a suspected body floating in the waters off Kuta Beach, Badung, Bali, has gone viral on social media. The recording captures a figure believed to be a corpse wearing a black jacket, floating and being swept by the sea current. Several items thought to belong to the victim, including a plastic raincoat, a pair of sandals, and glasses, were found on the rocks at the scene. Badung Lifeguard personnel member Wayan Krisna Widarma stated that his team received a report about a floating body in the Kuta Beach waters on Wednesday (17/6/2026) at around 07:30 WITA. After receiving the report, the Badung Lifeguard team immediately headed to the location and requested assistance from the Water Police and a jet ski team to conduct a search. According to the report received, the body was sighted in front of Discovery Mall, specifically at the third breakwater rock from the north. The Badung Lifeguard team conducted two sweeps, in the morning around 07:30 WITA and at midday around 12:00 WITA. The search covered approximately 200 metres to the north and south of the initial sighting point, but yielded no results. Krisna revealed that, based on information from residents, the victim is believed to have been seen at the location since the previous night. The victim is suspected to have drowned in the early hours of the morning and likely only surfaced about four to five hours after the incident. He confirmed that the figure in the video is indeed a corpse, but the cause of death remains undetermined. For the time being, the Badung Lifeguard and the police are continuing patrols and monitoring around the location. A further search is likely to be conducted in the afternoon while they await reports from family members or relatives who may be missing someone.
