Body found with multiple wounds

JAKARTA (JP): Tambora Police detectives of West Jakarta are still in the dark about the cause of the death of a man, whose body was found in the Roa Malaka subdistrict of Tambora on Monday night.

City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bahrul Alam identified the victim as Zeth Aleh Sonisa, 42, a resident of Taman Manggis Permai housing complex in Depok, south of Jakarta.

"He was found dead at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, with multiple stab wounds. Police are investigating this as a murder case," Anton told reporters on Tuesday.

Anton also revealed that a suspected thief identified as Astani was burned alive by an angry mob in Sabrang village in Balaraja, Tangerang, on Monday morning.

The police officer said Astani and his friend were climbing the wall of a building when a group of residents shouted at them, calling them thieves.

While his friend managed to flee, Astani was beaten before the mob set fire to him, Anton said.

Astani died upon reaching the Tangerang General Hospital. (ylt)
