Bodies of three crash victims recovered

JAYAPURA, Papua: A search and rescue team recovered on Wednesday morning the bodies of three of the victims of the recent crash of a chartered plane.

The DHC-6 Twin Otter, belonging to Trigana Air Service, crashed on the slopes of Mt. Susu, some 170 kilometers south of Nabire, Papua, on Saturday morning during a heavy rain.

The three victims who were recovered were identified as pilot Dwi Arifin, copilot Moh. Sofyan and assistant mechanic Frengky Sutarto.

The search is continuing for mechanic Laswardi and two passengers who were also on board the plane, the head of Nabire Airport, Abusani, said in Jayapura.

Alex Drehuckel, a German citizen piloting an Association Mission Aviation aircraft, was the first to spot the wreckage of the plane on Monday morning. --Antara
