Bobotoh Fans Flood Bandung Streets as Persib Champions' Convoy Spills Over to Pendopo

The enthusiasm of millions of Bobotoh fans once again transformed Bandung’s streets. The victory procession, starting from Gedung Sate to Bandung’s Pendopo, was festive but plagued by extreme congestion on several roads. Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that high public turnout caused the convoy to take far longer than planned. ‘It was moving, but not smooth due to the heavy crowds. It was severely delayed. We expected to arrive by 11am, but hadn’t reached by 1pm,’ he said. Farhan noted this year’s euphoria differed from previous years. While last year’s crowds were concentrated in Gasibu, this time Bobotoh fans filled almost the entire route from Gedung Sate to Pendopo. ‘Last year it was from City Hall to Gedung Sate, now it’s from Gedung Sate to Pendopo. Today is historic,’ he added. Farhan attributed the congestion to crowds spreading along the convoy route, slowing movement. ‘Last year, Gasibu was open, so people packed there. Now, with the capacity like Gasibu, people filled the entire road,’ he explained. Amid the festivities, Farhan personally intervened to clear illegally parked vehicles blocking roads and apologised to residents for the inconvenience. ‘I had to manage some parties. Parking illegally and obstructing roads—I apologise sincerely to the public,’ he said. The celebration also featured Persib legends, including the 1994-95 squad led by Indra Thohir, adding emotional depth to the historic moment for Bandung. Farhan anticipated continued enthusiasm but said celebrations would be temporarily suspended on Monday for President Prabowo’s visit. ‘I expect tomorrow to still be busy, but Monday we’ll clear the area briefly for the President’s visit,’ he added. The victory celebration included community efforts to clean the Rakyat Sports Stadium (SOR) Kaliki in Mangunreja District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java. Bandung’s Environment Agency deployed staff to clear tens of tonnes of waste after the victory convoy, with plastic bottles and discarded flares dominating the Cikapayang area. In Sukabumi, chicken porridge vendor Otang offered free meals as a vow for Persib Bandung’s Super League 2025/26 title win. Hundreds of thousands of Bobotoh fans flooded Bandung’s Asia-Africa Avenue during the Mapag Persib Juara convoy. Mayor Muhammad Farhan described Persib’s victory as historic for the Indonesian League. Persib’s success is hoped to inspire young people, particularly in fostering determination, hard work, and consistency in achieving success.
