Bobibos Claimed to Be 100% Vegetable-Based, Not a Mixture Like E5 or E10
In the midst of efforts to find alternative fuels, a new claim has emerged from the developers of Bobibos (Bahan Bakar Orisinil Buatan Indonesia Bos). This product is said to differ from previously known vegetable-based fuels, such as E5 or E10.
Bobibos founder, Iklas Thamrin, stated that the developed fuel does not contain any fossil petrol mixtures. He claimed that Bobibos is based 100% on vegetable oil.
According to him, this difference is a key point in discussions with the government. In an audience with the Directorate General of Oil and Gas of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), it was agreed that there would be a follow-up meeting to discuss technical aspects, including aligning perceptions on the fuel’s classification.
This step is considered crucial as it will determine testing standards and the regulations to be used. The process also involves technical parties, including the Directorate of Oil and Gas Technical and Environment as well as LEMIGAS.
From the testing side, Bobibos stated readiness to follow all stages set by the government. Functional tests will be conducted on vehicles, both cars and motorcycles, to observe the fuel’s performance in real conditions.
Director of PT Inti Sinergi Formula, Randy F. Firdaus, said that the testing parameters will be determined by a joint technical team formed with the Ministry of ESDM. However, in general, the testing will not differ much from the scheme used in previous vegetable fuel programmes.
“What is usually measured is fuel consumption, emissions, and engine performance. The testing is also carried out in various road conditions,” said Randy.
He added that his side is open to following all applicable provisions, including licensing if the product is later deemed feasible. According to him, testing is an important stage to prove the claims as well as ensure the safety of its use in society.
