Bobby on 5 Agency Heads Resigning: Poor Performance, Thankfully They Were Self-Aware

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution has spoken up about five of his agency heads resigning within the first year of his tenure. Bobby assessed that the five agency heads indeed had poor performance.

“If an agency head performs poorly, then just resign. That’s fine,” Bobby Nasution said when asked about the list of officials who resigned.

The former Mayor of Medan said his administration has performance assessments for each official within the North Sumatra Provincial Government. Bobby said nearly all of those who resigned had poor performance ratings.

“What I can say is, if they want to give any reason whatsoever, we have our own assessments for each individual. We’re not here to bring people down or judge whether someone is good or bad. But if they ask why they resigned, ‘oh it’s because of poor management,’ then we’ll open up the performance scores of all those who resigned—nearly all of them had poor ratings. Thankfully, they were self-aware,” he said.

A significant number of Echelon II officials in the North Sumatra Provincial Government are known to have resigned during Bobby’s governorship. They are Muhammad Rahmadani Lubis (Head of the North Sumatra Regional Finance and Assets Agency), Head of the North Sumatra Housing and Settlement Areas Agency Hasmirizal Lubis, Head of the North Sumatra Food Security, Food Crops, and Horticulture Agency Rajali, Head of the Industry, Trade, and Energy and Mineral Resources Agency Fitra Kurnia, and Head of the North Sumatra Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency Hendra Dermawan Siregar.

In addition to these five officials, North Sumatra Communications and Information Agency Head Ilyas Sitorus also resigned. However, Ilyas stepped down due to being embroiled in a corruption case.
