Bobby Nasution Remains Committed to Gerindra: One Party Switch is Enough
The Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, reaffirmed his commitment to the Gerindra Party during his speech at the North Sumatra Gerindra Party Laskar Training event in Sibolangit, Deli Serdang, on Saturday (3/10).
He expressed that he feels he has found the right party. Bobby stated that for him, switching parties once—from his previous affiliation with PDIP—is enough, and he intends to remain with Gerindra.
“What gives me peace of mind is that I saw the cadres and the Gerindra Party opening their arms wide to me. This is my path, and I believe moving parties once is sufficient. Let me remain in the Gerinda Party,” he said.
On this occasion, the son-in-law of Indonesia’s seventh President, Joko Widodo, initially felt hesitant to speak at the podium, admitting that he is still a new member of Gerindra.
He recounted his political journey as a former PDIP member, through which he successfully won the position of Mayor of Medan. However, Bobby noted that he was subsequently dismissed due to differing stances during the 2024 Regional and Presidential Elections. In the 2024 Presidential Election, Bobby supported the Prabowo-Gibran ticket, which was a rival to the PDIP-backed Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair.
“Previously, I was in another party. After several years in my previous party, I was dismissed and terminated,” he said.
However, he noted that Gerindra welcomed him with open arms at that time, and he expressed that he found a sense of peace when the party opened its doors to him.
According to Bobby, Gerindra is the appropriate party to fight for the nation’s aspirations, as the party led by President Prabowo Subianto has undergone a long process to achieve victory.
Consequently, he called upon all Gerindra cadres in North Sumatra to help oversee and ensure the success of the President’s programmes. Bobby emphasised that government programmes must be communicated down to the grassroots level.
“For all of us, I entrust you to guard not only the party’s reputation but also the President’s programmes. The President’s programmes have a significant impact on the lower classes of society, specifically for the purpose of increasing public welfare,” he concluded.
