Bobby Kertanegara the Cat Joins 81st Indonesian Independence Day Flag-Lowering Ceremony at the Palace

President Prabowo Subianto’s cat, Bobby Kertanegara, took part in the flag-lowering ceremony for the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. Bobby was brought to the palace in a stroller.

According to detikcom’s observations at Merdeka Palace on Monday (17/8/2026), Bobby’s stroller was carried by a man. Bobby was then shown to journalists.

A short while later, Bobby and the stroller were taken inside Merdeka Palace. The flag-lowering ceremony for the Red and White was led by Prabowo.

The Heritage Flag Hoisting Team (Paskibraka) assigned to the flag-lowering ceremony was Team Indonesia Adil Makmur. In the main formation, Neeltje Deliana Insjowi Werimon, representing Papua Province, was entrusted as the bearer of the Red and White flag.

The student from SMA Negeri 8 Jayapura carried out one of the key duties in the procession to lower the Red and White in the grounds of Merdeka Palace. Meanwhile, the reserve position for the tray bearer was entrusted to Ismi Ulfaida, a young woman from West Sulawesi Province who is a student at Sekolah Rakyat.

In other formation elements, Atanasius Meyllano Frans Yogar from East Nusa Tenggara Province, a student at SMA Katolik Giovanni Kupang, was appointed as Commander of Group 8. The task of flag hoister was assigned to Maharazthu Rizqhy Ramadhana Chubuyana, a Paskibraka representative from West Nusa Tenggara Province who is studying at SMAN 1 Taliwang.

Meanwhile, Mirza Rafi Navazani from West Kalimantan Province, a student at SMAN 1 Sintang, was entrusted with the task of flag unfurler.
