Boat sinks with rice

PALANGKARAYA, Central Kalimantan: A motorized boat which plies
the province's remote areas sank on Sunday with 39 tons of rice
on board on the Kahayan river.

Some 15 tons of the rice belonging to traders have been
salvaged from the water. The boat come from Tamban in Kapuas
regency of West Kalimantan.

Residents living near the pier told Antara that the accident
seemed so strange because the boat suddenly sank when it reached
the pier. (par)
