Boat Capsizes in Buleleng: Six Fishermen Rescued by SAR Team

A joint SAR team achieved a successful outcome in the waters of Sanggalangit, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency. Six fishermen who were adrift at sea after their boat capsized were successfully evacuated in good condition on Thursday (June 4) in the early hours.

This harrowing incident began when the six fishermen set out to sea on Wednesday (June 3) at around 6:00 PM local time. However, the joy of fishing turned into an emergency situation when the boat they were on capsized at around 10:49 PM local time due to the conditions in the waters.

The Denpasar Search and Rescue Office received an emergency report at 11:15 PM local time from the Celukan Bawang Port Authority. In response to the report, a rescue team from the Buleleng SAR Post was immediately dispatched to the location using Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) 04 Buleleng.

The search effort began precisely at 12:21 AM local time. Thanks to solid coordination and accurate determination of the coordinates, the joint SAR team only needed less than an hour to find the victims. At 12:58 AM local time, the six fishermen were found in good condition at coordinates 8°09’12.4” S - 114°46’03.2” E.

All the victims were then evacuated onto the RIB and taken to the Celukan Bawang Port to receive further treatment. The evacuation process was declared complete at 1:13 AM local time.

The success of this rescue operation was due to the active role of various elements. In addition to the Buleleng SAR Post, this operation involved personnel from the Celukan Bawang Naval Base, the Celukan Bawang Sea and Air Police Post, the Celukan Bawang Port Authority, the Celukan Bawang Police Station, as well as assistance from family and local residents.

This incident serves as an important reminder for fishermen and anglers to always be vigilant and equip themselves with safety equipment when carrying out activities at sea, given that weather and sea conditions can change at any time. (Z-1)
