Boarding Houses in Malang Introduce Digitalpreneur Ecosystem
Lumbung Coin Eco-resort, in collaboration with the Indonesia Construction Architecture Network (ICAN), has begun constructing a boarding house area (rukos) in Malang, East Java. This rukos integrates residential functions with centres for skill development, or living and learning. The project marks the start of domestic infrastructure development that simultaneously builds an intellectual ecosystem. The project site is in a strategic location adjacent to the Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim III, Junrejo, Kota Batu. The CEO of Lumbung Coin Eco-resort, Rosantika, explained that the grand vision of this area is to create practical training centres or bootcamps within a residential environment. The main focus is to produce digital talent capable of competing at local and global levels. “We are building bootcamps to produce high-quality human resources ready to fill the digital ecosystem. This effort is a concrete contribution to the government’s target of creating 19 million new jobs,” said Rosantika in her official statement on Monday (13/4/2026). Situated at an elevation of 800 metres above sea level, the area utilises its topography to support the cognitive performance of its residents. Fresh air and an environment far from commercial industrial noise are considered key elements in maintaining psychological balance between rest time and study time. The available houses are designed exclusively and limited, with only 67 units, each containing 12 rooms. Adopting Muslim-friendly principles, the residential area is specifically separated between male and female occupants, and provides special units for families. The area is also equipped with a shared place of worship, fitness centre, swimming pool, and mini supermarket. “Students or the community are expected to gain more benefits beyond just their study period. They must be able to create business opportunities through the talents developed while in this environment,” said Dian.
