Boarding House in Petamburan Collapses After Landslide, CCTV Captures Moments of Collapse and Evacuation
A boarding house building in the Petamburan area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, suffered a landslide and collapsed on Friday morning, 26 June 2026. The incident caused severe damage to the building, though it was confirmed that there were no casualties. The landslide also affected a nearby waste disposal site, but the boarding house sustained the most significant damage. CCTV footage captured the moment of the collapse, showing the building crumble suddenly and triggering panic among residents in the vicinity. Witnesses immediately moved away to avoid potential subsequent landslides. According to the boarding house caretaker, Budi, the building had already shown signs of damage several days prior. Part of the gypsum ceiling had fallen the night before, and visible cracks had prompted residents to leave their rooms for safety reasons. The early evacuation of the occupants prevented any injuries or fatalities when the structure finally gave way.
