BNPT Invites Civil Society Organisations to Formulate Strengthening of RAN PE Phase 2

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) has invited all Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to begin formulating the form of strengthening collaboration for the second phase of the National Action Plan to Counter Extremism (RAN PE) and to support the acceleration of establishing the Regional Action Plan (RAD PE) for extremism. Acting Deputy for International Cooperation at BNPT, Dionisius Elvan Swasono, stated that every form of contribution from civil society is highly beneficial for strengthening policy implementation. “BNPT and CSOs can already start formulating the form of collaboration strengthening that we want. We are also encouraging regions to promptly establish RAD PE within one year as mandated by regulations,” said Dionisius in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday. The activity aims to engage CSOs to actively participate in optimising implementation. BNPT Chief Secretary Bangbang Surono conveyed that BNPT, as the initiator and primary responsible body for the RAN PE policy, greatly needs the support and active role of CSOs. This is considering the President’s mandate through RAN PE Phase Two, which demands collective commitment to ensure effective, optimal, and sustainable implementation in mitigating extremism threats. In addition to regulatory support, activists also proposed strengthening the capacity of regional apparatus. They emphasised the importance of retraining on preventing violence-based extremism so that local governments have a deeper and more uniform understanding. Through collaboration, BNPT and civil society organisations are committed to developing programmes that reach the grassroots level, from policy socialisation to sustainable improvement in human resource quality.
