BNPT Emphasises Vigilance Amid Global Dynamics

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) emphasised vigilance amid the current global dynamics during a hearing with the House of Representatives’ Commission XIII in Jakarta on Monday (6/4).

BNPT Chief Eddy Hartono underscored the importance of collective vigilance in the present situation.

“This is a shared responsibility to safeguard, especially amid the highly complex global dynamics at present,” said Eddy, as confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

To address developments in the international geopolitical situation that could impact domestic stability, BNPT has formulated various strategic measures.

He stated that these strategic measures include coordination among defence and security instruments up to strengthening the Crisis Analysis and Control Centre (Pusdalsis).

Meanwhile, member of the House of Representatives’ Commission XIII Ahmad Basarah highlighted the real impact of global tensions on digital warfare in Indonesia through propaganda and social media.

Therefore, he hopes that BNPT will take out-of-the-box steps or think beyond conventional boundaries or adopt new perspectives in handling the issue.

The hearing concluded with an agreement to strengthen BNPT’s role in counter-radicalisation through various forms of public education to ensure maximum protection from radicalism threats both in the real world and digitally.

The hearing between BNPT and the House of Representatives’ Commission XIII was held in closed session.
