Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) has stated that the dissemination of Phase II of the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism (RAN PE) represents a commitment to addressing extremism.

In an online dissemination meeting on Friday (10/4), BNPT’s Chief Secretary Bangbang Surono said that RAN PE Phase II for 2026-2029 serves as a strategic foundation to bolster the direction of national policy.

“We hope that all units within BNPT possess a comprehensive understanding to guide more effective and measurable implementation compared to the previous phase,” Bangbang stated, as quoted from a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.

To that end, he said, the organisation of the dissemination meeting for Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 8 of 2026 marks the initial strategic step in implementing RAN PE Phase II.

RAN PE Phase II includes 111 actions divided into nine strategic themes. BNPT holds a dual role as the national coordinator and executor of actions through its various technical units.

Meanwhile, Acting Deputy for International Cooperation at BNPT, Dionisius Elvan Swasono, explained that the internal dissemination is an initial step before the policy is disseminated to ministries/institutions (k/l), local governments, civil society organisations, and international partners.

“The implementation of RAN PE is a collaborative effort across stakeholders. We are also preparing various derivative regulations related to monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to strengthen synergy with foreign development partners,” Dionisius revealed on the same occasion.

The forum also discussed several crucial points, such as accelerating the Regional Action Plan (RAD) for PE, promoting faster use of regional regulations (pergub/perbup) to expedite field implementation, positioning DKI Jakarta as a national benchmark, and monitoring mechanisms.

BNPT emphasised the importance of compiling a detailed timetable as a guide for implementation, supervision, and reporting for all work units to ensure that RAN PE targets for 2026-2029 are optimally achieved, thereby realising a secure Indonesia free from the threat of violent extremism.
