Jakarta — The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) and the Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kepolisian (STIK)–Perguruan Tinggi Ilmu Kepolisian (PTIK) have strengthened strategic studies to anticipate terrorism threats and to support the success of RAN PE Phase Two.

BNPT head Eddy Hartono said that research results and academic studies can form a crucial basis for formulating policy that is more targeted, especially in facing the challenge of radical ideologies spreading in the digital era.

“The collaboration with PTIK is a legal mandate, that is, national preparedness. One form of implementation is through the creation of in-depth, specialised studies on the dynamics of terrorism and RAN PE,” Eddy said, as confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He noted that such in-depth studies are an implementation of priority activities under the defence and security synergy in prevention, in accordance with the mandate of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

Not only in strengthening strategic studies, the partnership also focuses on research and human resource capacity development, in a Follow-Up Meeting on the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between BNPT and STIK-PTIK in Bogor, West Java, on Monday (11 May).

In addition, the collaboration focuses on supporting the implementation of the National Action Plan to Prevent and Counter Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism (RAN PE) Phase Two for 2026–2029.

Eddy emphasised that the synergy between BNPT and STIK-PTIK is an important part of national preparedness, as mandated by law and the RPJMN.

“Strategic collaboration is necessary to enhance national preparedness in facing the evolving dynamics of terrorism and radicalism, including in the digital space,” he said.

Meanwhile, the head of the Centre for Terrorism Studies at STIK, the Police Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat Polri), Mohammed Rycko Amelza Dahniel, stated the full commitment of the STIK-PTIK academic community to supporting the national counter-terrorism agenda.

“In order to support BNPT in countering terrorism, PTIK and the entire academic community are committed to ensuring the success of RAN PE Phase Two,” said Rycko.

The scope of the collaboration includes the delivery of education, research, community service, capacity-building, the use of facilities, and data and information exchange.

The BNPT-STIK-PTIK collaboration is expected to strengthen a science-based prevention ecosystem, improve the quality of counter-terrorism policy, and broaden the involvement of academics and the public in keeping Indonesia safe and peaceful.
