BNPP's Dharma Wanita Holds Free Pap Smear Examinations

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Dharma Wanita Persatuan of the Indonesian National Border Management Agency (DWP BNPP) has organised free pap smear screenings for the early detection of cervical cancer.

The activity, which took place at the BNPP RI Secretariat Office in Jakarta on Thursday (2/7), was conducted entirely free of charge.

“Programmes such as this provide tangible benefits, particularly for the health of the BNPP extended family. Prevention efforts through early detection are crucial, given that non-communicable diseases remain one of the primary causes of declining quality of life,” stated the Secretary of BNPP RI and Acting Head of the Bureau of Finance, General Affairs, and Public Relations of BNPP RI, Belly Isnaeni, in an official statement.

According to Belly, the presence of DWP BNPP also helps create a harmonious working environment, strengthens togetherness, and contributes to improving the quality of human resources for the families of civil servants through various activities in the fields of social welfare, education, and health.

Belly noted that these screenings serve as a simple step to identify cellular changes in the cervix, allowing for rapid and effective medical intervention.

“It is hoped that this collaboration can continue to be strengthened through various other promotional and preventive programmes, so that a culture of healthy living becomes more deeply rooted within the BNങ്ങള്‍ environment,” he added.

Meanwhile, representing the Chairperson of DWP BNPP RI, the Head of the Social and Cultural Division of DWP BNPP, Dewi Bakri, emphasised that this activity is a concrete manifestation of DWP BNPP’s concern regarding the importance of maintaining health, specifically through the early detection of non-communicable diseases.

“Health is the primary asset in performing our roles, whether as state apparatus, family members, or as part of society,” Dewi remarked.

Dewi added that in addition to the pap smear services, participants also received other health checks, such as quantum magnetic resonance examinations and random blood sugar tests for those meeting the requirements of BPJS Kesehatan (the national health insurance scheme).
