BNPP RI Presents Plaque to the President and Prime Minister of Timor Leste
In a ceremony in Dili yesterday, the plaque was handed over by Shienny Angelita Laiskodat, Special Staff of Timor Leste, representing BNPP RI at the commemoration of the 24th anniversary of the Restoration of RDTL Independence. This act underlines BNPP RI’s role in strengthening bilateral Indonesia–Timor Leste relations. Secretary of BNPP RI, Komjen Pol. Makhruzi Rahman, attended on behalf of the Minister of Home Affairs as Head of BNPP RI. The Indonesian BNPP RI delegation’s presence is part of official Indonesian government participation in Timor Leste’s national moment, reflecting enhanced border diplomacy between the two neighbouring countries. ‘The presentation of the plaque to the President and Prime Minister of Timor Leste is interpreted as a symbol of friendship and mutual respect, given that Indonesia and Timor Leste share a direct land border. This momentum also reinforces the importance of harmonious, stable, and sustainable cross-border cooperation,’ BNPP RI said in an official statement on Thursday (21 May 2026). BNPP RI currently manages several National Border Post (PLBN) crossings connecting Indonesia and Timor Leste, including PLBN Motaain in Belu Regency, PLBN Motamasin in Malaka Regency, PLBN Wini, and PLBN Napan in North Central Timor Regency. ‘Through the momentum of the 24th anniversary of the Restoration of RDTL Independence, BNPP RI affirms its commitment to continue advancing border management that is productive, not only as a national gateway but also as a strategic space to strengthen bilateral relations and the welfare of people in the Indonesia–Timor Leste border region,’ the official BNPP RI statement concluded. For reference, in this event the BNPP RI Secretary was accompanied by BNPP RI Expert Group member Nur Kholis, Head of BNPP RI Planning and Cooperation Bureau Budi Setyono, and Head of PLBN Motaain Maria Fatima Rika.
