BNPP RI’s participation in Timor Leste’s national celebration also emphasises the importance of strengthening cross-border synergy. After all, the two countries share a direct land border. BNPP RI regards regional stability, service quality, and border governance as the foundation for enhancing connectivity, maintaining security, and promoting the welfare of communities on both sides of the border.

‘In line with that mandate, BNPP RI administers a number of National Border Crossing Posts that connect Indonesia and Timor Leste, namely PLBN Motaain in Belu Regency, PLBN Motamasin in Malaka Regency, PLBN Wini, and PLBN Napan in TTU Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The existence of these PLBNs serves as cross-border service nodes that support the orderly, safe and dignified movement of people and goods,’ BNPP RI said in an official statement, on Thursday (21 May 2026).

On this occasion, BNPP RI also reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to strengthen border management oriented to public service, security, and regional cooperation. Through border diplomacy and the strengthening of PLBN, Indonesia and Timor Leste are expected to build a border region that is more solid, peaceful, productive, and prosperous for the peoples of both countries.

For information, on the national agenda, the BNPP RI Secretary was accompanied by the BNPP RI Expert Panel Nur Kholis, Head of Bureau of Planning and Cooperation BNPP RI Budi Setyono, and Head of PLBN Motaain Maria Fatima Rika. (ega/ega)
