National Border Management Agency Secretary Komjen Pol. Makhruzi Rahman has assured that communities on the front lines of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) receive access to decent housing to strengthen the country’s border areas. “Through BNPP, we ensure that communities on the front lines of the NKRI also receive access to decent housing as part of strengthening the country’s border areas,” he said while attending the Launching of the Gentengisasi Programme along with the Mass Handover of Keys and Mortgage Agreements for Subsidised Houses in the Pesona Kahuripan 12 Area, Cileungsi Subdistrict, Bogor Regency, on Sunday, 12 April 2026. He stated that the gentengisasi programme is part of the government’s support for the 3 million homes programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, aimed at providing decent and affordable housing for low-income communities (MBR). Makhruzi Rahman explained that the housing programme is an important foundation in improving community welfare, including in the country’s border areas. Because housing development is not only oriented towards physical aspects, but also towards improving the quality of life of the community. “In this very strategic moment, representing the Minister of Home Affairs as the Head of BNPP RI, the project in Pesona Kahuripan 12 is not merely physical development, but the realisation of dignity for low-income communities to have decent, safe, and quality housing,” he said. He also expressed appreciation for the innovation of the gentengisasi programme, which is considered capable of mobilising the people’s economy. According to him, the involvement of local SMEs as providers of building materials is a concrete example of development synergy that directly impacts the surrounding community. “We greatly appreciate the innovation of the Gentengisasi Programme. This is proof that the housing sector can simultaneously drive local economic growth,” he stated. He emphasised that housing affairs are basic services that are the government’s obligation. In line with that, the Ministry of Home Affairs together with BNPP RI is committed to strengthening collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PKP) to ensure that the housing programme runs optimally and sustainably. On that occasion, he outlined three strategic points of that collaboration, namely accelerating permits in the regions so that subsidised housing development is not hindered, optimising the utilisation of regional government land assets for people’s housing areas, and developing housing in border areas through synergy between BNPP RI and the Ministry of PKP. He hopes that the synergy of all stakeholders can continue to be strengthened to realise decent housing for the wider community. “May the hard work of all involved stakeholders become ongoing charity and provide the greatest benefits for the nation and state.”
