BNPP Holds Pancasila Birthday Commemoration 2026, Reinforces National Unity

Indonesia’s National Border Management Agency (BNPP) stressed the importance of Pancasila as a unifying force for the nation amid global challenges during the 2026 Pancasila Birthday Commemoration Ceremony held in Jakarta on Monday (1 June 2026). The event underscored BNPP’s commitment to implementing Pancasila’s values, particularly in managing the nation’s border regions. BNPP Secretary Police General Makhruzi Rahman served as the ceremony’s inspector. This year’s Pancasila Birthday commemoration carried the theme ‘Pancasila: Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace’. In his address, Makhruzi delivered a speech by the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP). ‘Pancasila serves as a guiding star and moral anchor for the nation in confronting global challenges, from technological disruption to geopolitical dynamics,’ Makhruzi stated in a press release received by Kompas.com on Monday (1 June 2026). He stressed that Pancasila is not merely the state’s foundation but a living value relevant in navigating uncertain global dynamics. He noted that these values have proven to be a unifying force for Indonesia’s diverse population of thousands of islands and hundreds of ethnic groups. In the context of national development, Makhruzi reminded that economic and technological progress must be grounded in clear moral direction. He said Pancasila must be a living ideology, internalised and practised in daily life, especially by the youth as guardians of the nation’s future. All public policies should be based on social justice, safeguarding the rights of the marginalised, and rejecting all forms of intolerance and radicalism. Makhruzi further asserted that Indonesia has a constitutional duty to contribute to a world order based on independence, perpetual peace, and social justice. The consensus-based consultation values embedded in Pancasila are crucial for Indonesia’s diplomacy in bridging differences and de-escalating international conflicts. According to Makhruzi, Indonesia’s contributions to global peace missions are a tangible manifestation of the second Pancasila principle: Just and Civilised Humanity. This is evident through participation in UN peacekeeping forces and Indonesia’s active role in regional conflict mediation. ‘True peace is not merely the absence of war, but the presence of justice for all humanity,’ Makhruzi stressed. The BNPP’s Pancasila Birthday commemoration ceremony was attended solemnly by agency officials and staff. The event served as a reminder that border management is not solely focused on physical and security aspects but also on reinforcing national values. Through the commemoration, BNPP reaffirmed its commitment to using unity, humanity, and social justice as the foundation for border region management.
