BNPP Confirms 13,123 Border Communities Passed Verification for House Renovation Program
The National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP), has discussed the implementation of the program to improve the quality of 15,000 uninhabitable houses (RTLH) through the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) scheme proposed by ministries and agencies for 2026.
BNPP Secretary Makhruzi Rahman stated that out of the proposed 15,000 RTLH units, 13,12 ສຳ 23 units, or 87.49%, have been accommodated following the verification process. This achievement positions the BNPP as the ministry/agency with the highest number of proposals passing verification.
“From the 15,000 units we proposed, 13,123 units or 87.49 percent have been accommodated. We still have time to optimise the fulfilment of the quota until 25 September 2026,” said Makhruzi in a written statement on Friday (18/9/2026).
According to Makhruzi, fulfilling the remaining quota must be carried out through coordination with local governments. If there is still a shortage of data or proposals, local governments can complete their submissions in accordance with applicable regulations so that the target of 15,000 RTLH units can be met.
Makhruzi added that coordination between the BNPP, the Ministry of PKP, and relevant local governments needs to be strengthened, particularly in overcoming communication obstacles and increasing understanding regarding the mechanisms and allocation of the BSPS Program in the regions.
“Coordination needs to be continuously strengthened so that local governments fully understand the BSPS mechanism and allocation. With good coordination, the process of fulfilling the quota and implementing the programme in the regions can proceed more purposefully,” said Makhruzi.
During the discussions, the BNPP also emphasised the importance of refining the RTLH database as the basis for programme planning.
Refinement includes updating information on the Go PKP application and ensuring the completeness of supporting documents, including photos of the house condition, National Identity Cards (KTP), Family Cards (KK), and proof of land ownership.
The completeness and accuracy of this data are required not only for the implementation of the 2026 programme but also as material for planning, monitoring, and evaluating the handling of RTLH in 2027.
Furthermore, the BNPP proposed the development of joint Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) between the Ministry of PKP and the proposing ministries/agencies. The SOP is aimed at clarifying roles in monitoring the implementation of BSPS, including mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation, the submission of beneficiary data, and the progress of aid distribution.
Through strengthened coordination and data refinement, the BNPP continues to oversee the implementation of the RTLH quality improvement programme in border areas to ensure that housing assistance is directed to communities that meet the criteria and are in need.
