The National Border Management Agency (BNPP) held a Pancasila Birthday Commemoration ceremony at the Permanent Secretariat office in Jakarta. The event served as a moment for BNPP to reflect on implementing Pancasila’s values, particularly in border region management. BNPP Secretary General Police General Makhruzi Rahman presided over the ceremony. This year’s Pancasila Birthday commemoration carried the theme ‘Pancasila: Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace.’ In his address, BNPP Secretary General read the speech by the Head of the State Ideology Development Agency (BPIP). He stressed that Pancasila is not merely a state foundation but a living value relevant in confronting uncertain global dynamics. He stated that Pancasila has proven to be a unifying force for the nation amid Indonesia’s diversity of thousands of islands and hundreds of ethnic groups. ‘Pancasila serves as both a guiding star and moral anchor for the nation in facing global challenges, from technological disruption to geopolitical dynamics,’ said Police General Makhruzi in a written statement on Monday (1/6/2026). He also stated that Indonesia has a constitutional duty to actively contribute to global order based on independence, lasting peace, and social justice. The values of deliberation and consensus embedded in Pancasila are key assets in Indonesia’s diplomacy for bridging differences and defusing international conflicts. Furthermore, Police General Makhruzi emphasised that Indonesia’s contributions to global peace missions, including participation in United Nations peacekeeping forces and active mediation in regional conflicts, are tangible manifestations of the second Pancasila principle of Just and Civilised Humanity. ‘True peace is not merely the absence of war, but the presence of justice for all humanity,’ he stressed. In the context of national development, he reminded that economic and technological progress must remain grounded in clear moral direction. Pancasila, he said, must be a living ideology embraced and practised, especially by the younger generation as guardians of the nation’s future. All public policies should be based on social justice, safeguarding the rights of marginalised communities, and rejecting all forms of intolerance and radicalism. The Pancasila Birthday Commemoration ceremony at BNPP was attended solemnly by officials and staff of the Permanent Secretariat. The event served as a reminder that border management is not only about physical and security aspects but also strengthening national values. Through this commemoration, BNPP reaffirmed its commitment to uphold Pancasila as the foundation for all policies and work programmes. With the spirit of unity, humanity, and social justice, BNPP is optimistic that Pancasila will remain alive and relevant in preserving the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in border regions as the nation’s front line.
