The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that the deployment of a 5,000-litre water tanker truck assisted the joint team in extinguishing a land fire in Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands.

“The Central Bangka Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Quick Reaction Team moved swiftly to deploy personnel and a water tanker truck to the incident location,” said Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Data, Information, and Disaster Communication Centre, in Jakarta on Monday.

According to him, the mobilised vehicle helped maximise the joint team’s rapid response, successfully localising the flames so they did not spread to surrounding areas.

The BNPB Directorate of Operations Control confirmed the fire was reported on Saturday (25/7) afternoon at around 15:47 Western Indonesia Time. Based on preliminary data collection by the joint officer team, it is estimated that three hectares of land were burned in Penyak Village, Koba District, Central Bangka Regency.

He stated that there were no fatalities or injuries in the incident because the fire location was quickly isolated by officers in the field. However, the joint team remains on standby, and the cause of the fire is still under further investigation by law enforcement officials.

“The cause of the fire is still being investigated,” he noted.
