The Head of the Data, Information and Disaster Communication Centre at BNPB, Abdul Muhari, stated that the agency will send a water-bombing helicopter to extinguish the fire at the Jatiwaringin final disposal site in Tangerang Regency tomorrow. BNPB will also conduct weather modification operations. “Starting tomorrow, we will carry out water bombing and weather modification operations,” Abdul Muhari told reporters on Tuesday (30/6/2026). Muhari said BNPB will deploy one water-bombing helicopter capable of carrying a large volume of water. In addition, a caravan aircraft will be prepared for weather modification. “Tomorrow, definitely one water-bombing helicopter, and we will see how the situation develops on the ground,” Muhari stated. “One water-bombing helicopter and one caravan for OMC,” he added. The Tangerang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency had previously sought assistance from BNPB to accelerate the extinguishing of the fire at the Jatiwaringin landfill. The Tangerang BPBD hoped that a BNPB helicopter would be dispatched to help extinguish the fire in locations that are difficult to reach. “I have been continuously trying to communicate with BNPB, while requesting field reports for handling the fire at the Jatiwaringin landfill,” said Head of Tangerang Regency BPBD Achmad Taufik in Tangerang, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (30/6). According to him, assistance from BNPB in the form of deploying a water-bombing helicopter is considered effective in accelerating the current emergency response. He mentioned the difficulty in accessing the fire extinguishing points. “I have made efforts to BNPB to help bring in a helicopter for water spraying from above, given the condition that our fleet is having difficulty getting close to the fire,” he explained.
