The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has proposed an additional Rp 5.67 trillion in Ready-to-Use Funds (DSP) to the Ministry of Finance to support the acceleration of disaster management and physical rehabilitation in various regions throughout 2026.

BNPB Secretary-General Rustian, speaking at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, said the additional operational allocation was crucial given the unpredictable nature of disasters, which cannot be fully anticipated in regular budget planning.

“In 2026, a proposal for additional DSP is being processed with the Ministry of Finance. In the near future, we are proposing around Rp 5.67 trillion,” he said.

Rustian explained that for the 2026 fiscal year, BNPB manages a regular budget ceiling of Rp 1.05 trillion, which was subsequently supplemented with Rp 26.88 billion for accelerating the rehabilitation and reconstruction of severely damaged housing, bringing the total routine allocation to Rp 1.08 trillion.

Beyond the routine budget, BNPB had earlier received an initial disbursement of Ready-to-Use Funds for 2026 amounting to Rp 4.62 trillion for emergency response operations in the field.

Presenting a five-year recapitulation (2022–2027), the total disaster management budget has remained relatively stable at between Rp 4 trillion and Rp 5 trillion per year: Rp 5.46 trillion in 2022, Rp 5.48 trillion in 2023, Rp 5.13 trillion in 2024, and Rp 4.91 trillion in 2025.

Rustian added that for the 2027 fiscal year, the government has approved an initial BNPB ceiling of Rp 1.12 trillion, which already includes a special allocation of Rp 126.24 billion for accelerating post-disaster recovery in three Sumatran provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

BNPB affirmed that the national disaster management budget allocation remains adequate and receives the government’s full priority.

According to Rustian, the national disaster management budget posture is important for the public to know, while also providing certainty regarding the government’s readiness to continuously protect and safeguard the public during disaster emergencies.
