The impact of the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) continues to be felt. The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has again updated the casualty data. Two more people have been declared dead, bringing the total death toll to 105.

Acting Head of the BNPB Data, Information and Communication Centre, Berton SP Panjaitan, said the two additional victims died as a result of indirect impacts of the earthquake. “The total number of deaths has now reached 105,” he said on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.

Of the 105 fatalities, BNPB recorded that 48 people died from the direct impact of the earthquake, while the other 57 victims died from indirect impacts. In terms of gender, female victims dominate with a percentage of 58 per cent, while male victims account for 42 per cent. By age group, elderly victims are the largest group.

BNPB also recorded an increase in the number of injured victims. Twelve people were added in the latest data update, bringing the total number of injured to 1,678.

Amid the rising number of victims, there is positive news regarding the number of people still displaced. BNPB recorded a significant decrease in the number of displaced persons, down by 6,094 people. “As of today, there has been a significant decrease in the number of displaced persons,” he said.

Nevertheless, the number of displaced persons in several other areas is still increasing. With these developments, the total number of people still in evacuation centres is recorded at 179,037.
