Meulaboh (ANTARA) - The West Aceh District Government, through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), has stated that the construction of 49 permanent housing units (huntap) for disaster-affected communities in the area is ready to proceed by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) of the Republic of Indonesia.

“At present, all administrative processes, including the decision letters (SK) for aid recipients, have been declared complete,” said Acting Head of the West Aceh District BPBD, Teuku Ronald Nehdiansyah, to ANTARA in Meulaboh on Saturday.

He explained that the data for prospective permanent housing aid recipients has undergone a stringent verification process, including cross-checking by name and address with the West Aceh District Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil).

The distribution of the 49 permanent housing units will be located in six sub-districts in West Aceh, namely Meureubo Sub-district, Pante Ceureumen Sub-district, Bubon Sub-district, West Woyla Sub-district, East Woyla Sub-district, and Central Woyla Sub-district.

“Residents who own land are willing to relocate independently to the locations they designate. However, for residents without land, the local government will strive to provide communal land,” he stated.

Teuku Ronald said that the central government through BNPB does not directly build permanent housing in arbitrary locations, as the land sites proposed by residents will be re-verified by a joint team from the Land Agency and the National Land Agency (BPN).

He added that this verification aims to ensure that the land locations are safe from future disaster risks, and the land ownership status must be clear and not overlapping with other parties.

Teuku Ronald stated that the construction project for the 49 permanent housing units in West Aceh District is aid from BNPB.

All construction costs will be borne by the central government, while the local government is responsible for data, administration, and land readiness aspects.

“With the green light given by BNPB, physical construction is hoped to commence soon to provide decent and safe housing for West Aceh residents,” he said.
