BNPB: Pumping operations optimised to tackle flooding in Gorontalo City

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has stated that joint officers are optimising the operation of water pumps to drain stagnant water at various locations to accelerate flood management in the Gorontalo City area, Gorontalo Province.

The Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Centre, Abdul Muhari, stated in Jakarta on Monday that while water levels in most areas are reported to be receding, pumping efforts are being continued to ensure that community activities can return to full normalcy.

According to preliminary data collected by the BNPB, at least 603 residential units have been affected, spread across 10 sub-districts in two districts. These include the East Gorontalo District, comprising Heledula Utara, Moodu, Heledula Selatan, Padebuolo, and Ipilo sub-districts.

In the North Gorontalo District, flooding has submerged residential areas in the Wongkaditi Timur, Wongkaditi Barat, Dembe Jaya, Dembe II, and Dulomo sub-districts.

Abdul reported that 761 families, or approximately 2,692 individuals, have been affected by this incident, and officers on the ground are still conducting further data collection processes.
