Bank Mandiri, through its Mandiri Peduli NTT programme as part of Mandiri untuk Negeri, has distributed humanitarian aid to residents affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Saturday (15/8). The initiative reflects the bank’s concern for communities impacted by the disaster.

Mandiri Peduli NTT serves as a momentum for national synergy. As a strategic partner in the KR-BNN regional cooperation (Bali, NTB, and NTT Regional Cooperation), Bank Mandiri is working together with the government, Danantara Indonesia, BP BUMN, BPBD, and the provincial governments of Bali, NTB, and NTT to strengthen integrated disaster management.

The synergy also involves Bali Governor Wayan Koster, NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, and NTT Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, covering needs mapping, aid distribution, and field monitoring.

NTT Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena expressed appreciation for Bank Mandiri’s consistent support for NTT communities, including through the KR-BNN regional cooperation. “Bank Mandiri is one of the partners that has consistently supported NTT Province, including in the KR-BNN regional cooperation. The support provided since the beginning of the emergency response period has been very meaningful for the community, and we are grateful for the concern Bank Mandiri continues to show towards NTT to this day,” said Melki, quoted from a written statement on Friday (21/8/2026).

The cooperation with KR-BNN has accelerated the distribution of aid to affected areas, making delivery more effective. The established synergy also enables optimisation of resources across agencies so that emergency response can proceed more quickly and accurately.

The earthquake, centred in the waters north of Nagekeo Regency, caused damage to a number of buildings, disrupted electricity and telecommunications networks, and forced some residents to evacuate. Responding to these conditions, Bank Mandiri moved quickly to ensure continuity of banking services while supporting the fulfilment of basic needs of affected communities.

Through rapid response actions, Bank Mandiri distributed aid to those most in need in several affected areas. Aid distribution was prioritised to locations experiencing the greatest impact and monitored regularly to ensure it was on target according to field conditions.

Dozens of Mandirian volunteers were directly involved in the distribution process at various points, including Labuan Bajo, Maumere, Ruteng, Ende, Bajawa, and Larantuka. The aid distributed included basic necessities and essential supplies such as rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, sugar, coffee, tea, eggs, mineral water, bread, milk, snacks, energy drinks, tents, mats, baby diapers, medicines, blankets, and other items according to community needs in each area.

Bank Mandiri Regional CEO for Region XI/Bali and Nusa Tenggara Alexander Jonathan Patty said that Mandiri Peduli NTT is a manifestation of Bank Mandiri’s concern as well as synergy with various parties in responding to the needs of affected communities.

“We are deeply saddened and concerned about what the people of NTT have experienced. Through Mandiri Peduli NTT, we and Bank Mandiri volunteers continue to strengthen coordination and synergy with BPBD and various parties so that aid can be distributed quickly, safely, and according to community needs. The spirit of mutual cooperation is an important part of ensuring communities receive support during the emergency response period,” said Alex.

In this effort, employee safety is the top priority. Bank Mandiri management also continues to monitor employee conditions, office operations, and service networks in affected areas to ensure customer services continue to run well during the emergency response period.

Bank Mandiri ensures that digital services and transaction networks, including Livin’ by Mandiri, Kopra by Mandiri, Livin’ Merchant, ATMs, and EDC terminals, remain accessible so that customer and community transaction needs continue to be served.

As part of the disaster response, Bank Mandiri gave special attention to several affected areas, including West Manggarai Regency in Labuan Bajo, Nagekeo Regency in Ende, Sikka Regency in Maumere, Manggarai Regency in Ruteng, Ende Regency in Ende, Ngada Regency in Bajawa, and East Manggarai Regency in Borong.

In addition to distributing basic aid, Bank Mandiri volunteers also supported the operation of evacuation posts and logistics needs of emergency response officers at affected locations. This step is part of Bank Mandiri’s efforts to help affected communities directly while ensuring aid is distributed according to needs in the field.

This series of actions is part of Bank Mandiri’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme, which continuously supports communities in facing emergency situations and post-disaster recovery processes.

“May the affected communities be given strength and fortitude, and Bank Mandiri will continue to be present to accompany them until conditions gradually recover,” concluded Alex.
