BNPB Provides Television for Temporary Housing Units for Disaster Victims in North Aceh
GAYO LUES — Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has ensured that temporary housing units for flood and landslide victims in North Aceh Regency have been equipped with various household facilities including electricity and televisions to support the comfort of residents.
“The temporary housing units occupied by the community have been equipped with electrical networks and furnishings such as beds, chairs, dining tables, stoves, televisions, and water installations,” said BNPB Head Suharyanto in a statement confirmed from Gayo Lues, Aceh, on Monday.
He explained that beyond household facilities, the government has also provided communal facilities within the housing area, such as meeting halls and mosques that residents can use for social and religious activities.
BNPB reported that 104 families have now moved into the temporary housing units in Kuala Cangkoy Village, Lapang District, North Aceh Regency. The housing was constructed with support from the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polkam) as part of efforts to accelerate disaster recovery.
According to Suharyanto, the development of these temporary housing units is expected to provide a safer and more comfortable living space for communities previously affected by floods and landslides.
Beyond providing housing, BNPB has also distributed various forms of assistance to residents of the temporary housing units, including food packages for the next ten days, fans for each home, school supplies for children, and supplementary food assistance for affected families.
Suharyanto added that BNPB personnel remain deployed in various affected districts and cities, including North Aceh, to ensure that disaster management and recovery processes proceed optimally.
“We have arranged personnel on a rotating basis to ensure that regional government support and services to the community continue during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period,” he said.
