BNPB proposes additional Rp5.67 trillion to support disaster management in 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has proposed an additional Ready-to-Use Fund (DSP) of Rp5.67 trillion to the Ministry of Finance to support the acceleration of disaster response and physical rehabilitation in various regions throughout 2026.
BNPB Principal Secretary Rustian, speaking at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, said the additional operational allocation is crucial given that disaster characteristics cannot be predicted with certainty through regular budget planning.
“In 2026, the proposal for additional DSP funds to the Ministry of Finance is being processed; in the near future we are proposing around Rp5.67 trillion,” he said.
Rustian explained that for the 2026 fiscal year, BNPB manages a regular budget ceiling of Rp1.05 trillion, which received additional support of Rp26.88 billion for accelerating the rehabilitation and reconstruction of severely damaged housing, bringing the total routine allocation to Rp1.08 trillion.
In a five-year recapitulation (2022-2027), total disaster management spending has remained relatively stable at between Rp4 trillion and Rp5 trillion per year, as seen in 2022 (Rp5.46 trillion), 2023 (Rp5.48 trillion), 2024 (Rp5.13 trillion), and 2025 (Rp4.91 trillion).
Rustian added that for the 2027 fiscal year, the government has approved an initial budget ceiling for BNPB of Rp1.12 trillion, which already includes a special allocation of Rp126.24 billion for accelerated post-disaster recovery in three provinces in Sumatra: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
BNPB emphasised that the availability of the national disaster management budget remains adequate and continues to receive full priority from the government.
According to him, the national disaster management budget posture is important for the public to know, whilst also providing public certainty regarding the government’s readiness to continuously protect and safeguard communities during disaster emergencies.
