The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) is continuing efforts to provide various logistical supplies for the victims of flash flooding in temporary shelters (huntara) in the interior of West Aceh Regency ahead of occupancy by affected communities in the near future.

“All refugee needs are being prepared within the huntara; currently all these needs are still in the process of being provided by the government through BNPB,” said Acting Head of the West Aceh Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Teuku Ronald to ANTARA on Monday.

The refugee needs currently being prepared in the huntara include bedding facilities, cooking equipment, blankets, and various basic household necessities for disaster survivors’ daily needs.

Teuku Ronald stated that the number of residents who will occupy the huntara in West Aceh Regency is currently recorded at approximately 30 people, with 12 shelter units already completed by BNPB.

Teuku Ronald said the local government is currently maintaining communication and collaborating with BNPB to maximise all the needs of refugees who will occupy the huntara in the near future.

“We are still in the phase of providing basic needs and logistics; the target is for the huntara to be habitable by disaster victims during Ramadan,” said Teuku Ronald.
