Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has recorded that as of today the number of fatalities from the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has risen to 103.

“There has been an increase of three fatalities, bringing the total to 103 as of today’s records,” said Berton SP Panjaitan, Acting Head of the BNPB Data, Information and Disaster Communication Centre, during a press conference on the handling of the NTT earthquake, which was attended online from Jakarta on Tuesday.

It was previously known that since the earthquake struck NTT on 15 August 2026 until Monday (24/8), the number of victims stood at 100. The latest data shows that the 103 fatalities comprise 41 victims in Manggarai Regency, 34 in East Manggarai, 13 in Nagekeo, 6 in Sikka, 5 in Ngada, 3 in Ende, and 1 in West Manggarai.

Berton then expressed his condolences to the families, neighbours, relatives, and all members of the community who lost family members in the disaster.

Berton also provided information regarding the injured. As of today, the BNPB has recorded a total of 1,666 people injured. Previously, on Monday (24/8), the BNPB had recorded 1,603 injured victims.

East Manggarai Regency is the area with the highest number of injured victims, with 239 people suffering serious injuries and 404 people suffering minor injuries.

According to Berton, the BNPB continues to update victim data as additional reports come in from the earthquake-affected areas.

It is known that a 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Saturday (15/8) at 05.58 WITA.
