The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said there are no longer any fire hotspots from the forest and land fire on Mount Ciremai, Kuningan, West Java. BNPB said firefighting operations were conducted from 21 to 26 October.

“We can report that operations began on 21 October 2026. By 24 October the situation was under control and there were no longer any fire hotspots,” said Berton Panjaitan, acting head of BNPB’s Data, Information and Disaster Centre, on Tuesday (27 October 2026).

The fire occurred in Grid 15 of Zone I in the Mount Ciremai National Park (TNGC), Kuningan. Berton said the suppression effort was aided by natural rainfall.

“Today we can say that the fire in the Mount Ciremai forest is completely extinguished, finished, and there are no more hotspots,” Berton said.

Previously, the forest and land fire, which covered approximately 30 hectares on the slopes of Mount Ciremai, had not been detected since Sunday (25 October). Smoke was nevertheless still visible at the site.

The head of the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Teten AME, said the agency was continuing weather modification efforts to accelerate rainfall in the area. He said the remaining smoke was thought to be coming from fire debris that had not been fully extinguished.
