BNPB: No Fatalities from Floods and Landslides in 13 Lebak Villages
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported no fatalities from floods and landslides affecting 13 villages in Lebak Regency, Banten. “This confirmation was obtained following on-site emergency impact monitoring,” said Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB’s Data, Information, and Disaster Communication Centre, in a statement on Tuesday in Jakarta. The affected areas include Gunung Wangun, Neglasari, Hegarmanah, Cikadu, Kujangjaya, Cisungsang, and Ciherang villages in Cibeber District. The disaster’s impact also extended to Gunung Sari village in Banjarsari District, Leuwidamar village in Leuwidamar District, Cikatomas and Girimukti villages in Cilograng District, as well as Cidikit and Bayah Barat villages in Bayah District. According to Abdul, at least 33 residential units were affected by flooding with water levels ranging from 30 to 50 centimetres, seven of which sustained minor to severe damage. In addition to residential areas, the most severe landslide occurred on Stimulya Kujangsari Road, blocking all access. However, by Monday (25 May), a joint regional team had deployed heavy machinery to reopen the road, while floodwaters were reported to be receding.
