The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has announced that a joint team has successfully extinguished a forest and land fire covering three hectares in the Solok Regency area of West Sumatra.

Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Centre, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the prompt action of officers on the ground prevented the flames from spreading and allowed the fire to be localised quickly.

Abdul explained that the land fire was first detected affecting a vegetated area on Monday evening, around 6:30 PM WIB. The BNPB Operations Control Centre confirmed, based on reports from the Solok Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) rapid response team, that the fire hotspots were concentrated within the administrative area of Nagari Paninggahan, Junjung Sirih District, Solok Regency.

Upon receiving reports of the blaze, firefighters from the Solok Regency BPBD immediately deployed to the location alongside personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and local community fire volunteers. The integrated joint team performed area containment measures to sever the spread of embers burning through dry shrubs in the affected area. After battling to control the situation on the ground, officers finally managed to ensure all fire hotspots were completely extinguished by approximately 10:00 PM WIB.
