BNPB hands over second-phase stimulus aid for damaged houses in West Sumatra disaster

Tanah Datar Regency (ANTARA) – The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) handed over second-phase stimulus aid for repairing damaged houses affected by the floods and landslides in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra (Sumbar).

This is the second phase of aid distribution. The first phase was carried out simultaneously in 25 regencies/cities in February, said BNPB Chief Lieutenant General Suharyanto in Tanah Datar on Wednesday.

Specifically in Sumbar, phase II assistance was handed to victims in two regencies and cities: Tanah Datar Regency and Pesisir Selatan Regency. For Tanah Datar, aid was given to 126 households (KK) with a total value of Rp2.8 billion.

For Pesisir Selatan, aid was given to 103 households with a total value of Rp2.415 billion. In other words, 14 regencies and cities affected in West Sumatra Province have received stimulus aid for lightly and moderately damaged houses.

The government provides various forms of assistance to disaster-affected communities in Sumatra. For lightly and moderately damaged houses, stimulus for house repairs is provided. Meanwhile, damage to houses is addressed through the construction of temporary housing (huntara) and the provision of housing waiting funds (DTH).

Suharyanto said the current focus of handling in the Minangkabau region (Ranah Minang) is the construction of permanent housing (huntap). Some regencies and cities have centralised the construction of huntap in cooperation with various agencies and ministries.

Meanwhile, one recipient of the stimulus for lightly damaged houses, Erwin, said he was helped by government aid amid the rehabilitation and reconstruction ongoing.

“I would like to thank you for this aid. I will use the funds to renovate my house,” he said.
