The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has stated that basic logistical aid is the most urgent need for survivors of river flooding in Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi. Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Data, Information and Communication Centre, said in Jakarta on Monday that the required supplies include foodstuffs, rice, blankets, and mats to support residents during the emergency response period. The BNPB Operations Control Centre reported that the flooding occurred after high-intensity rainfall hit the Parigi Moutong Regency area on Saturday (20/6) at around 11:00 p.m. local time, causing several rivers to overflow. The event impacted at least six villages spread across four sub-districts: Parigi, South Parigi, West Parigi, and Balinggi. β€œIn Masari Village, 70 families were affected and 10 of them have been displaced, while in Dolago Padang, 50 families were affected,” he said. In addition to impacting residents, the floodwaters also inundated 166 houses, two of which sustained minor damage. Other material losses include three severely damaged bridges, one burst water channel, as well as 70 hectares of rice fields and two hectares of community plantations affected by the flooding.
