BNPB: Evacuation tents established for flood victims in Bengkulu
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has stated that evacuation tents have been established to accommodate residents affected by flooding in Bengkulu following heavy rains that caused inundation in residential areas.
Head of the BNPB Centre for Disaster Data, Information, and Communication, Abdul Muhari, in Jakarta on Thursday, said that the evacuation tents were set up by the Bengkulu Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) rapid response team as a precautionary measure for residents needing temporary shelter.
“Personnel have been deployed to conduct assessments, data collection, logistics aid distribution, and evacuation of residents trapped by the floods,” he said.
The BNPB Centre for Operational Control confirmed that the flooding has affected 26 neighbourhoods in eight districts, namely Singaran Pati, Muara Bangkahulu, Ratu Agung, Selebar, Ratu Samban, Sungai Serut, Kampung Melayu, and Gading Cempaka Districts.
A total of 2,855 houses, one place of worship, and one educational facility have been impacted by the incident.
Additionally, 219 families have been affected by the flooding in Jaya Karta Village, Pulau Panggung, Tengah Padang, Taba Pasma, Nakau, as well as Kembang Sri, Taba Terunjam, Talang Empat, and Taba Jambu Village in Pondok Kubang District.
