BNPB: Electricity Restored in Several Areas of NTT

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has provided an update on the handling of landslide-blocked roads and power outages in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) following the earthquake disaster. Road clearance work is targeted for completion by tomorrow, while electricity supply has been confirmed as restored.

BNPB Deputy for Prevention Abdul Muhari said that road access had been cut off due to a landslide in Trium District, West Manggarai. The disruption had hampered the delivery of fuel oil (BBM).

“This afternoon, the road section at kilometre 49 in Trium District can already be passed by fuel tanker trucks,” said Abdul Muhari on Sunday (16/8/2026).

Abdul Muhari added that there were reports of other affected points. However, the Ministry of Public Works has assured that the issues will be resolved promptly.

“Regarding other road points that were affected or buried by landslides, the Minister of Public Works has also reported that almost all of them have now completed the clearing phase,” he said.

“We expect that today, or at the latest tomorrow, the previously impassable landslide-affected road sections can be used again,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Abdul Muhari noted that power outages had occurred in several locations. However, he said that state electricity company PLN has resolved the issue.

“In several points and areas that experienced blackouts on the first day after the earthquake, as of today electricity has been switched back on, so we hope our brothers and sisters in the affected locations can enjoy electricity supply again,” he said.

Nevertheless, the government has urged the public to report immediately if outages persist in their areas.

“We remain open. If there are still areas experiencing blackouts, please report immediately through the BNPB call centre 117 so that we can coordinate with PLN for power restoration measures,” he said.
